General

Hi – I’m High Paladin, general misanthrope and, of late, known as The Doomtrain. Menoth are my one, true faction and, like any man of faith, I’ve come home for MK3.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be doing a run down of the various models in the Protectorate and my initial impressions of each.

I’m hoping some of my compatriots will join me and do something similar for their own factions, but time will tell.

It’s been about 6 months since I started playing Cryx , so I can no longer claim “new faction” as an excuse. The pressure to continue my oddly successful stint at the ETC was making me a little nervous about attending the UK Masters, but I was on a good run.

After arriving early on the Friday and getting some sleep, I played a late, late game against James Salt which finished at around 1am. After an exceptionally long and bloody game, Asphyxious managed to kill enough of Haley’s pieces that James clocked out before he could get enough scenario points.

Kaelyssa in Cryx

I had been on the verge of running pGrissel as a Blood Gorger warlock, but decided against it for 2 reasons. Firstly, running a list whose primary goal was to jam my opponent didn’t sound like a great deal of fun. Secondly, although her fell calls are pretty awesome, I didn’t particularly fancy a 15/16, focus 6 caster with no real defensive tech.

Ok, So we did the first 3 drafts last night, we got some interesting combinations and some dam right nasty ones. So to start with the breakdown on casters chassis used had a few surprises. The breakdown look like Breakdown

Vayl1 was the most popular with 3 out of 14 players taking her, then Kaelyssa, Doomshaper and Butcher all getting 2 each, with the rest getting 1. We see who had the right idea.

The Deathclock

Taken at face value, the Deathclock is a scary concept. Not only do you need to play the game and avoid losing to the innumerable machinations of your opponent, you need to do it in a timely fashion. The Clock becomes another loss condition, ticking away to your doom.

But it doesn’t have to be this way. You and the clock can be friends and, with some preparation, you can mitigate the clock to the point where it becomes a valuable win condition. This is intended as a guide for those for whom The Clock is a concern and something they feel that they need to address.

Hey guys. I’ve bought a camcorder to start recording games. The camera in question is a Canon Legria HFR606. I’ve bought a 32GB SD card for it and it can hold just over 4 hours of footage at HD or over 11 hours of Low res (Testing on quality needed). I also have a tripod good to go and have confirmed that both stores are ok with us filming, providing it doesn’t get in the way.

Convergence

So I am a 10 year veteran of Warmachine / Hordes, spent the last 2 as a Press Ganger. This year I was going to play Cygnar for any tournaments I went to, and start picking up Convergence as a new faction to learn and play in local stuff and maybe play them next year for the events. But certain things changed and I am now 2 weeks out from the first big event of the year, the Welsh Masters, and I taking Convergence. After only 5 months of playing (40 games or so), is this a good plan probably not, but I need the practise and the big tournament practise to see if I going to take them to ETC in 3 months time.
